Josephine Ann Rihn Blume, of La Coste, passed away on November 20, 2019 at the age of 87 years. She was born March 19, 1932 in Castroville, Texas. Read more about online casino. Josephine was one of twelve children born to Bernard Jacob Rihn and Mary Anna Hutzler Rihn.
Josephine graduated from La Coste High School in 1950. On July 3, 1950, she married Melvin Frank Blume in La Coste. Josephine and Melvin were blessed with six children and were married for thirty-two years when Melvin passed away on October 7, 1982.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments. In addition to making a home for her family and caring for them, she worked at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Medina Valley High School and Air Force Village II.
Survivors include her children, Peggy Persyn (Darson) of San Antonio, David Blume (Renee) of Kountze, Texas, Linda Payne of San Antonio and Della Wilham (Forest) of Castroville; fourteen grandchildren, Heather Nicholson, Brandon Payne, Michiel Persyn, Jana Wimer, Keri Fitzpatrick, Jessica Grimmel, Joshua Blume, Amber Foster, Courtney Heiligman, Derek Payne, Karah Akeroyd, Megan Abernathy, Jeffrey Blume and Chance Wilham; thirty great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Ruffin of San Antonio, Mary C. Tschirhart of San Antonio, Barbara (Robert) Hargroder of Fair Oaks, Anna Mae Hitzfelder of La Coste; in-laws, Joyce Rihn of La Coste, Martha (J.C.) Nocker of Oklahoma and Vernor Bippert of Floresville.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mary Anna Rihn; husband, Melvin Blume; sons, Daniel Frank Blume and Darryl James Blume; son-in-law, Lloyd Payne; brothers, Anthony Rihn, Denis Joseph Rihn and Jerome B. (Helen) Rihn; sisters, Marcella Rihn, Inez (O.B.) Harless, Adelyn Bippert and Madelyn (Clayton) Murphy as well as numerous in-laws.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste on Sunday, November 24, 2019 starting at 6:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste, Texas.
