The Natalia Mustang Baseball team heads down IH-35 South this Thursday to compete in a three day tournament in Pearsall. Natalia will be one of nine teams competing. The Stangs open the tournament against neighboring Devine as they will face off the first time since 2009 and only the second time since the 1970s.
The Stangs and Warhorses open the tournament at 3:45 p.m. Natalia defeated Devine in the 09’ battle in a playoff warm-up between the two towns in Devine. Back then, Natalia was led by stand-out pitcher RJ Rodriguez and crew and coached by current Del Rio Head Coach Nick Mendez.
Natalia’s second game of the tournament will be on Friday, March 11th at 3:45 p.m. vs. the Pleasanton Eagles. The boys in blue return to action at 8:15 p.m. that day to battle host Pearsall.
Natalia rounds out action on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. vs the Crystal City Javelinas. Other teams in the tourney include Somerset, Hondo, Carrizo Springs and Bandera.
“We are excited about facing another weekend of stiff competition,” Coach Kasey Crowther said.
