Home XC meet Sept. 18 at Devine golf course

The Devine High School Cross Country teams ran at Bandera last Saturday with several runners finishing in the top 25 of their respective divisions. The teams compete once again this Wednesday in Devine at the golf course, and then head to Corpus for the Islander Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
In Bandera, the varsity Arabians placed fourth of 10 complete teams assembled. Pleasanton (59 points) took the team-title while host Bandera (60) was runner up. Needville, with 66 points, finished just ahead of the Arabians 77.
Bri Bowyer, Yessika Garza, Brooke Runyan, and Espi Mendoza all finished in the top 19 individually while Rebecca Mares and Corinne Fowler came in 16th and 18th respectively in the JV division.
For the Warhorses, Xavier Garza led the team with a sixth place outing while Chris Ortiz ran his best time of the season to finish in 21st place.
I am extremely excited about our overall performances from both the Arabians and Warhorses. Most of our returning runner’s times vastly improved from the recorded times ran on this same course nearly a year ago. We have not reached our peak performance yet, but why would we have? There is still a lot of this season left to go.
