Friendship Art Club meeting July 9

Patty Dugosh demonstrates color application to Jane Brown during a recent oil painting workshop.

Members of the Friendship Art Club enjoyed a one-day oil painting workshop with local artist, Patty Dugosh. The group learned color mixing skills using a limited palette and completed landscape paintings.
The July business meeting of the Friendship Art Club will be Tuesday morning, July 9. Plans are coming together for the annual Art Show and Sale, September 28. The show includes an extensive raffle, the proceeds of which fund the scholarship program. Donations for the raffle are welcome and are due by July 9. This allows ample time for printing the raffle tickets.
Booth space is still available. All art work must be original. No commercial items may be sold. Booths range from fine art, such as watercolor, acrylic, oil paintings, graphite work, colored ink and pastel. Creative jewelry, pottery, and metal sculpture are also popular. Area artists are invited to participate. Please call sow chairman, Jane Brown, 210-415-2546, with any questions or to request an application form. Booth space is limited.
The show also features a student art show. Entries are from area Middle Schools, Junior Highs and High Schools. Participating schools are from the Lytle, Natalia, Devine, Somerset and Medina Valley School Districts. Students compete for individual ribbons, and group recognition. Best of Show and the Peoples’ Choice Award are also presented. Many of our scholarship winners have participated in the student show.
Booth participants may participate in the Membership Judged Competition. Entries may not be more than two years old or competed in judging in previous years. Entries are registered on Friday, September 27 and judged that afternoon. The show also asks visitors to vote for People’s Choice. Audience participation is encouraged.
A luncheon follows the business meeting, as well as a program. Currently scheduled is a demonstration using colored pencils. Visitors are cordially invited. The meeting is Tuesday, July 9 at the Lytle Church of Christ in the Fellowship Hall. Members also meet Tuesday mornings to work and share from 9:30 am until noon. Visitors are welcome.
