Fireworks Thursday at John Lott Park

Wow, last week was a busy one! We had a total of 71 calls for service which is well above our average. Officers also conducted 86 traffic stops. Those stops resulted in 53 citations and 33 warnings.
Here is the arrest activity from last week: Sgt. Hanson had two arrests off of traffic stops, both were for driving with suspended licenses and both were booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. Ofc. Lopez & Capt. Reyes responded to a late night / early morning one-vehicle accident that resulted in the driver being arrested for DWI, he too was booked into the jail in Jourdanton.
Our “Smell Good Bandits” struck at Bealls. They loaded up with about $740 worth of cologne/perfume gifts sets. I believe they hit the Bealls in Pleasanton earlier in the day. We have some good photos & videos so maybe when can track these people down. There were two males and one female. I bet these stolen goods end up at a flea market somewhere or nowadays maybe some online market place.
In the early morning hours of Friday, June 21, an unknown person stole a 2002 Ford F350 from the Best Western Plus. It appeared they jumped the fence and entered from the area of the old Schwan’s building. While investigating, Ofc. Lopez located a small baggie of meth that was recently dropped, most likely by our suspect.
A unit was broken into at the Lytle Mini Storage; a Stihl weed eater was the only item taken. With all the rain I’m sure our crook won’t have any trouble putting that weed eater to use, but it will most likely be sold for dope money.
To finish out the week, we had a wallet reported lost at AutoZone and another complainant reported that she left her purse in a shopping cart at HEB Plus and somebody made some charges on her credit card.
Don’t miss our fireworks show at John Lott Park on Thursday, July 4. The festivities kick off at 7 PM but the real action is the fireworks show that will take place around 9:30 PM. We may not have an airport, a public pool, or even a golf course but we do have one heck of a fireworks show. The city will be providing free hot dogs (the really good ones that have a long shelf life) and drinks on a first come first served basis. A healthier option would be to stop by H.E.B. Plus and pick up a bag of organic baby carrots. Nothing is more American than organic baby carrots and fireworks.
