Freshmen Arabians break Lady Bears’ zone

On November 20, the Freshman Arabians traveled to La Vernia and took on the Lady Bears. Facing a zone defense for the first time this season, the Arabians had to quickly adjust to it and learn to work around it. The Arabians made quick work of the Lady Bears and won 43-18 to continue undefeated at 6-0.
“Like all firsts, we struggled, not to score points, but to do it while beating the zone. When it finally clicked, it was awesome. We were ourselves the rest of the way; intense pressure, great work under the glass, nice passing, coming up with the loose ball, and great hustle plays from everyone. It is said that hard work pays off and all the hard work that these youngsters have put in shows. Great effort again!!” said Coach Mark Mangold.
Yesika Garza led the charge with 23 points, Mariana Hutton 8, Lacey Shook 7, Kayde Yeats 3, and Mayah Brogden 5 points. The Freshman Arabians will face Jourdanton at home on December 11th.
