The Driscoll Public Library will host internationally acclaimed musician Sagit Zilberman this Saturday, November 9, 5:00 pm in the George S. Woods Community Center. Sagit plays a myriad of enticing instruments such as the Swiss Hand-Pan, a steel drum which produces magical harmonies, a simple recorder, and her jazzy saxophone.
Sagit’s program, Songs of Peace, tells the story of a little boy who grows up in Africa. As he makes his way through different countries he realizes he wants to return home. It’s an imaginary story about independence, appreciation for nature, life wit and wisdom, rhythm, listening to our passions, our hearts and bodies and communing with others along the journey. The stories of each place visited are told through musical instruments from that region. The whole program is interactive. The program is geared to introducing kids to storytelling through music. This is Sagit’s third visit to the Devine area.
The program is approximately 45 minutes and there will be a chance after the show to visit with Sagit and try your at hand playing on or all of her wonder filled instruments. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
