Texas High School Coaches Association in conjunction with the Texas Army National Guard recognized the following Warhorse football players for Academic All-State Honors for the 2018 UIL football season: Quentin “Guido” Zapata–2nd Team Academic All-State, Brady Cardenas—2nd Team Academic All-State, Grant Collins–Honorable Mention All-State, Mason Perez–Honorable Mention All-State, and Joey Seguin–Honorable Mention All-State.
Academic All-State encompasses the seven semesters beginning the student’s freshman school year through the mid-semester break of their senior year. In order to achieve the recognition, students must have a 90 average for all semesters within those grading periods.
Head Coach Paul Gomez commented that he is “very proud of these student/athletes. Football consumes so much of a students’ time with players not getting home until 7pm or 8pm for most of the week. Possessing the ability to maintain good grades and strive for excellence on and off the field is what high school is all about. They are building a foundation for successful careers. Their work ethic will empower them for the real world. We are extremely proud of them!”
Congratulations Warhorses on your well-deserved recognition.
