Firemen battle 200-acre blaze

Several departments rushed to a large fire this past February 6th around 3:48 pm on highway 1549 toward Bigfoot.
According to Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department, “High winds this afternoon caused two power lines to disconnect causing sparks on dry grass. The high winds caused the fire to spread rapidly moving east burning a total of 200 hundred acres all the way to the other side of 1333. Other units were called to assist and spread out in all areas to prevent the fire from hitingt residential areas. A command post was posted off of 1549 to keep in touch with all the units. Thank you to our local county Fire Depts., Fire Marshal, Emergency Management Coordinator, Pleasanton VFD, Jourdanton VFD, Poteet VFD, Christine VFD, and Devine VFD.”
Thankfully no injuries were sustained or any property was damaged besides fence posts and lines.
