Evelyn I. Ziegler McKeown passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Devine Nursing & Rehabilitation at the age of 99.
Evelyn was born August 27, 1920 in Dixon, Mo., to Eugene and Stella Ziegler. She was the eldest of six children. She was married to Milton McKeown on August 22, 1939. They were married for 54 years. Evelyn was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Devine, Tx. She was a housewife, cafeteria employee, and volunteer at Devine Hospice as well as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Milton; two sons, Eugene and Roy; and one grandson, Robert Escoto.
She is survived by three children, Joyce McKeown Hackler, Carolyn McKeown Shaw, and Kenneth McKeown; seven grandchildren, Darrell McKeown and wife Jeanette, Tammy Scheide and husband Lee, Raymond Escoto Jr., Kenneth McKeown Jr., Karen McKeown Newman, and Margaret McKeown; eight great-grandchildren, Cora Beckcom and husband Josh, Courtney Shumake and husband Adam, Allie Smith, Cody Smith, Ryan Scheide, Leila Escoto, Ruby Escoto, and Lilly Escoto; three great-great-grandchildren, Raylyn Beckcom, Tucker Beckcom, and Joseph Shumake.
Visitation was held on February 29 at Faith Baptist Church, 575 Hwy. 132 N. in Devine at 9:30 am, with services following at 10:30 am. Burial followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Devine. Following the burial service was a luncheon at Faith Baptist Church.
