Concrete truck blows tire, slides off Hwy. 173 and bursts into flames

A concrete truck went sliding off Hwy 173 near Hondo Creek this past Wednesday, August 21st.

“It was loaded with material so it slid several hundred feet, through a fence and into some trees before it came to a stop,” said Devine Fire Chief Mike Walker.
“There is a curve just on the other side of Hondo Creek, and supposedly they blew one of their front tires right as they were coming around that curve,” Chief Walker said. “After it came to a stop, it caught fire. The fire could have possibly been starting by fuel leaking onto the hot motor. Thankfully we were able to get it put out before it spread to the surrounding area.”
