Colts wrap up ‘21 XC; 8th grade team runner-up

The Devine Middle School Colt Cross Country team put the wraps on their 2021 season in Uvalde Saturday morning finishing as runner-up to team champion Carrizo Springs. The Colts scored 44 points, four points out of first place in District 30-4A.
8th Colts
Newcomer to Cross Country this season, Joe Guerrero once again led all Colt runners as he finished third overall with a 12:05 two-mile time. First place Jonathoan Davila of Carrizo Springs ran an 11:59 while individual runner-up Alfredo Gallegos of Crystal City ran a 12-flat, only five seconds faster than Guerrero.
Tanner Davis placed 8th overall. Davis ran 12:52. Teammate Mario Vicente was next for the Colts in 10th place with a 13:24.
George Garcia (15th-14:04) and Maverick Beaty (16th-14:15) also competed for the 8th grade Colts.
7th Colts
The 7th grade Colts missed the team scoring requirements by only having four runners available to begin the race. It takes a minimum of five runners to qualify for a team score.
Alejandro Ramirez paced the Colts with his 5th place overall accomplishment. Ramirez ran his two-mile race in 14:03.
Jacob Riou placed in the top 10 at seventh place individually. Riou ran a 15:02. Jaden Rodriguez placed 11th with a 17:20 while final Colt runner Chester Darby came in 12th at 17:23.
