Clerk fights back as teen robs store with toy machine gun

Around 11 pm this past Thursday, August 22, a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with Robbery after he reportedly used a toy gun to rob the Super Stop (Exxon) in Lytle.

“The kid came in with a large black sub-machine style gun and wearing a ski mask, and he tells the clerk to put all the money in the bag. At some point, during the process of doing that, the clerk decides to grab and subdued the suspect. They struggled for a little while, but he was able to hold him down until law enforcement arrived,” said Lytle Police Chief Richey Priest.
“This is a case that could have been a real tragedy had a lawfully armed person or peace officer entered the store and got into the mix,” Chief Priest said. “That kid could have been shot or killed over a fake gun. It could have been a real tragedy.”
He was transported to Atascosa Co. Juvenile Detention Center in Jourdanton.
