City signs contract with GRG Architecture for clubhouse renovation

The City of Devine formally entered a contract with GRG Architecture for renovation of the golf course clubhouse during the Special meeting held on May 26.

Council chose GRG for the $250,000 project during the April 23 meeting based on the firm’s qualifications, but postponed approval of the contract during the May 19 meeting due to an indemnification clause that City Attorney Tom Cate said the City could not legally agree to.

That clause was removed, and Cate gave the revised contract his stamp of approval at the May 26 meeting.

The design development phase of the project should take around two months, with another four to five months projected for construction.

A motion by District 5 Councilwoman Debra Randall and District 3 Councilman David Espinosa to accept the contract with GRG passed unanimously with the support of District 1 Councilman Flipper Vega, District 2 Councilman Steve Lopez, and District 4 Councilman Chuck Guzman.
