Natalia Summer Strength and Conditioning Program for Student Athletes set to kick off June 8

“We’ve been in constant contact with UIL, and health officials to develop a plan to allow our kids back on campus and resume physical activity in a safe manner” said Athletic Director Illian Martinez.

The Natalia ISD Summer Strength and conditioning is set to begin June 8, 2020 with social distancing measures in place that safely allows student athletes to get back to work in preparation for the 2020-2021 school year.

Coach Martinez and his staff  have put together a plan that they feel puts safety first for all athletes.  They plan to work athletes in groups of no more than 10, with one coach per group to supervise and ensure social distancing is strictly enforced.  All students will stay in the same group to limit contact and strict sanitizing practices will be in place.  Athletes and staff will go through a COVID pre-screening inquiry along with daily temperature checks.   Students must bring their own water bottles and they will not be allowed to use any school water fountains.  Sharing of food and water will not be permitted.  Transition routines will be practiced, to prohibit students to congregate and/or mix together between training segments, as well as before or after practice around the practice areas and in the parking areas.

Students and staff will be asked to stay home if they experience a long list of COVID symptoms.  They are also encouraged to call 830-663-6800 or 210-279-2438 to let the coaches know if they will be missing due to symptoms, illness, vacation or other reasons.

“These are challenging times and we will adjust as new challenges arise.  We couldn’t be more excited about seeing each of our student athletes as we continue to build the Championship Culture here at Natalia ISD,” said Martinez.
