The Lytle Pirates (4-1, 0-0) will open 14-3A (Div.I) play this coming Friday in the Strawberry Capital as they face the Poteet Aggies (0-5, 0-0) at Aggie Field. Coach Mike Trevino and squad are hoping the Lytle faithful make the short trip over to Atascosa County and support the Black and Gold Friday night.

The Pirates had an impressive week as they followed their championship performance in the Islander Splash in Corpus Christi with another championship effort in Round Rock at Old Settlers Park in the HOKA Invitational which is the site of November’s State Meet.

The Natalia Mustangs (0-4) will open district play this coming Friday on the road in Kendall County vs. the Comfort Bobcats (2-3, 1-0). This will be the first time since 2002, Natalia and Comfort compete in Comfort and just the 2nd time since 02 they battle.

The Varsity Lytle Lady Pirates won third with a score of 181 at the HOKA meet in Round Rock last weekend.

The Lady Pirate Cross Country team rebounded quite nicely from their Islander Splash showing to take the third spot of 38 teams in the HOKA Invitational at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock this past Saturday morning. Lytle scored 181 points to finish behind nemesis Poth who scored 120 and Hamilton who posted 173.

The JV Pirate Cross Country team were crowned champions at the River City Believers Invitational Saturday in San Antonio while the Lady Pirates also impressed garnering a third place finish.

The Pirate Cross Country team made a huge statement to all of Region IV 3A Saturday at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi by winning the Islander Splash. Abel Sanchez, Johnny Rey Alvarez, Bryan Montes-Rodriguez, Diego Reyna, and Brandon Obando took five of the top 16 spots that included a field of 335 competitors.Lytle scored 50 points to earn that top spot followed by runner up Boerne who finished with 74 points and a distant third place La Vernia squad who amassed 159 points.

The Lytle Pirates continued to make recent history, as they defeated the West Campus Cougars (1-2) 33-0 to improve to 3-0 on the season as they prepare for a big rivalry this Friday vs. Natalia. Coach Mike Trevino continued to praise his squad for their efforts and continued improvement and execution.

The Lytle Cross Country teams ran in the massive FEAST Cross Country Invitational last Saturday morning in San Antonio. The Lady Pirates placed 2nd in the 32-team varsity girls division with 181 points. Poth was the team champion with 103 points.
Running in both varsity boy divisions, the Pirates placed 7th in the 44-team open division and 8th in the 33-team 1A-4A division.
