Boehme speaks at MC Historical Commission quarterly meeting

Bradford Boehme.

Bradford Boehme was the speaker for Medina County Historical Commission quarterly meeting. He exhibited a portion of his Meyer Pottery collection.
In the 1880s, Germans William Meyer and Franz Schultz produced glazed utilitarian stoneware to much of the surrounding area of Southwest Texas. Their pottery was located on acreage they purchased in Atascosa, Texas and the clay came from leased acreage nearby.
The pottery closed in early 1960’s, by which time it was producing hand painted small wares for tourist trade souvenirs rather than the large utilitarian stoneware.
