Traffic may force street closures, Eclipse event at Warhorse Stadium

All of the following streets may be closed to thru traffic as soon as Thursday, April 4, which is a few days before the eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. Officials expect a large amount of travelers to travel straight through Devine on Hwy 173 while on their way to Bandera and Kerrville who expect thousands of visitors to come watch the eclipse in the Hill Country, which has been called “ground zero” as it is best place to view it.

The Best $5

When we started running low on candy as we helped stuff eggs for the Easter Bunny, we started getting creative.  I stuffed a few with blackberries and fishing lure plastic worms just for the heck of it. My little sister wasn’t amused, but hey, you never know how a kid’s gonna react. My son does love his fruit! But then we found grandpa’s coin bucket and started stuffing eggs with quarters as we know the kiddos love having quarters for the gumball machines in town.  Grandma threw quite a few one dollar dollars eggs too.

DHS senior parties begin with Current Events Ice Cream Social April 10

As DHS Seniors of 2024 conclude their public education, various community groups are celebrating their success with parties in their honor. Wednesday, April 10, begins the festivities with an after-school ice cream social hosted by the Current Events Club at 302 W. Benton Avenue.

Veterans needed for Devine VFW float for Natalia’s parade

VFW Post 3966 of Devine will have a patriotic float in the Natalia Bluebonnet Festival Parade on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Our Post is looking for veterans to fill the float. We will have about 15 seats available to fill. You do not have to be a Post member. All veterans are welcome.

Santiago (Jimmy) M. Vasquez

There will be a Celebration of Life this Saturday, April 6 at First Baptist Church in Natalia, TX for Santiago “Jimmy” M. Vasquez.
Join family and friends for coffee and donuts as they share stories about Jimmy. The Visitation will be held from 9am-10am. Immediately following visitation, we will have a service to celebrate Jimmy’s life from 10am-11am.Services will conclude at First Baptist Church.

Janet Wilson

Janet Wilson went to be with the Lord our God on March 23, 2024.
Janet was born on December 6, 1932, to Edward and Chleo Holmes in Oilton, Oklahoma. The family found their way to Jackson County Texas like many other oilfield families after the Depression. In Jackson County she met and married John Shutt, raising two sons. After 19 years of marriage, they divorced. She later married C.A. Wilson – a marriage that lasted just short of 40 years.
