Arabians power lift themselves to 1st place at TSS; Terrazas and Diaz earn individual gold

Devine Arabian powerlifters pounded the iron to a first place team-win at the TSS Powerlifting Meet last Thursday in San Antonio. It was the Arabians first, first-place finish of the season and it could not have come at a better time as Regional is just around the corner. Best Lifter-Lightweight Division (97lb-148lb class) was awarded to Devine’s Aaliyah Terrazas.
Head Coach Paul Gomez was ecstatic when speaking of his team’s final regular season performance. “What a way to end the season! Our girls won the meet! We have made great strides this year and our hard work definitely has paid off. We had a bunch of girls greatly improve their totals. My seniors ended the season in great fashion. They all improved their totals and ranking. I have a good mixture of seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.”
Quite am improvement for sure. As you browse through the final standings at the end of the article, notice the “+” mark which indicates how much each individual lifter improved from their previous best total.
“Now we wait and see to find out how many girls will qualify for regionals,” Gomez continued. “We had a few girls right there between 10th-14th places so we will see what happens. If a lifter makes top 12 in the region in their weight-class then they qualify for the regional meet. We had some girls that reached the state totals but the trick is they have to make those totals at the regional meet.”
Aaliyah (junior), Arsci Lopez (freshman), and Felicity Diaz (senior) all reached state qualifying totals. Now they have to reach those totals at the regional meet. The judges will be tougher and we will have to bring our best focus and intensity but I have all the confidence in the world in my girls! I’m excited, Coach Rotramel is excited, and we are just ready to get to work. Lots more in the tank for our regional qualifiers.”
Best of luck to those that qualify for Regional! Represent!!!
