Devine’s Arabian powerlifting team continued racking up some hardware this past weekend at San Antonio East Central. A third place finish with thirteen teams competing could be a strong indication of Devine’s representation at the regional meet on March 1st.
“With only 7 girls competing at the end of the meet, we still got 3rd place as a team,” stated Head Coach Paul Gomez. “A full team consists of 11 lifters so being shy of that number really shows me their determination to succeed. I am proud of these girls. They have fun while they are competing and it helps bring out the best in each of them.
Khali Key got 1st place and ended up having a great meet after she struggled early on. It was her birthday so we are happy that she had such a good day lifting. Khali ended up improving her total by 40lbs.
Aaliyah Terrazas got 2nd place in her weight class as she improved 50lbs on her total. Jeanette Rios and Felicity Diaz had another good performance and placed 3rd in their respective weight class. Trinity Garza placed 4th and increased 15lbs. on her total.”
Devine finishes the regular season this Thursday at TSS-San Antonio. There are six battling to stay in the top 12 and make the regional meet at PSJA Memorial High School on Friday, March 1st.
