Arabians 3-1 in district

The Varsity Arabians suffered their first district loss against Pearsall on March 26. Pearsall’s batters were able to get 18 hits and 21 runs against Devine’s 4 hits and 3 runs. “We got beat in all aspects of the game Tuesday night. Pearsall is a really good all-around team and with good teams you cannot afford to have any mistakes. Good teams are going to get base hits, so we have to get outs whenever we can and limit them to singles and not allow them to get extra bases on throws. We are going to really focus on the fine details of the game these next few days and get ready for Hondo on Tuesday,” stated Coach Juan Gonzalez.
Devine’s scoring plays – Bottom of the third, 2 outs, Jeanette Rios single to center and then steals second and third with Kendall Arche at bat. Rios then crossed home when Arche hit a pop fly to left. Bottom of the fifth, Mackenzie Schneider walked, Julie Ortiz single to center, and then Rios walked to load the bases. Dasslyn Coronado struck out swinging. Jessie Ramirez hits a strong line drive to center for a double and brings home Schneider and Ortiz.
Ortiz 1 run, 1 hit. Rios 1 run, 1 hit. Ramirez 1 hit, 2 RBIs. Megan Runyan 1 hit. Schneider 1 run.
The Arabians will face Pearsall again on April 16th in their last district game of the season. Before that game they will play in Carrizo Springs Friday, April 5th and at home against Crystal City Friday, April 12th. The Varsity Arabians are 3-1 in district and 11-14 overall.
