What a day for the Devine Arabian Cross Country team! Brianna Bowyer, Espi Mendoza, Brooke Runyan, Kristina Moralez, Audrey Longoria, Rebecca Mares, Kelli Geyer, and Yessika Garza tallied 34 points in route to the District 29-4A team championship. Bowyer was also the individual champion with an overall time of 13:34 on the 2.04-mile course.
I am super proud of what the team accomplished last Wednesday. We were dealt some bad news on the day before the race with one of our top runners as Yessika was unable to perform due to a foot injury. The girls did not miss a beat in capturing their second consecutive team championship.

“Wow! Back-to-back District Champs! The way winning in Cross Country goes is your team has to score a low number, and points are based on the placing you come in. This will be my fourth year competing at Regional. I’m so glad to be part of a team who puts their time and dedication and care into something that others wouldn’t. The day of District, all the girls knew what we had to get done and what we were fighting for. We wouldn’t be where we are today without our coaches, parents and most importantly OURSELVES!
