Anthony Bernard Crosby

Anthony Bernard Crosby was born on February 12, 1938, in San Antonio Texas. He was called home to his heavenly Father on April 28, 2024. As a boy, Tony spent his summers on a large cattle ranch with his close friends and cousins in Mexico, learning how to be a cowboy. He attended Central Catholic High School where he was a star of the basketball team.

After graduation, he attended St. Mary’s University on a music scholarship, earning a degree in English. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Anne, in 1960, and they had three sons, Brian, Patrick and Kevin. Subsequently, he joined his family business, ABC Linen Service. He also signed up for the army reserve where he attended OTC and became a lieutenant, training in Army Aviation school to fly helicopters. He had earned his pilot’s license at the age of 16 and developed a lifelong passion for aviation. Because his father had a stroke, he was honorably discharged to return home and run the family business, where he was very successful. He then followed his dream and started a private airport and flight school, Westside Airpark, where he was one of the first dealers for American Aviation planes. He owned numerous aircraft and enjoyed flying his family around the USA and Mexico for airshows and vacations. He sold the airport to real estate developers in 1984 and purchased a small ranch in Devine Texas. Here he realized his dream of being a cattleman, developing a large herd of pure-bred cows.
He enjoyed this country life for 35 years, with the help of his wife and sons. He also enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife to see national parks and visit scenic places in the US and Europe. He eventually turned over the cattle operation to his son Patrick. He then enjoyed his final years with his wife in the unique, round house which he had designed and built in 1967. There he enjoyed the company of his wife and friends along with his cats. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, sons Brian, Patrick, and Kevin, grandchildren, Sean, William and Gwynne, and sister Christie.
