Active cases hit 304, Medina County sees 3 more fatalities

The active COVID-19 case count for today is 304, hitting a new high, and sadly, 3 more fatalities from COVID-19 in Medina County since last Monday’s report. With cases high and transmission widespread, take measures to protect yourself, like wearing a mask, avoiding crowds, and encouraging your neighbors to get vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines are available at the Medina County Health Unit. Booster doses are not yet available and we are awaiting information on who will be eligible for boosters and when. Those who are immunocompromised and can get an additional dose now:
* Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
* Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
* Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
* Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
* Advanced or untreated HIV infection
* Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response
Talk to your healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate at this time.
