Rivalry games always brings out the best in players and the 8th grade Maroon Colts brought it all to the field on Thursday. They Beat Hondo 20-0.
“Ethan Santos, Gabe Esquibel, and Elijah Sanchez each scored a touchdown,” Coach Lon Cozby said. “A tenacious defense kept the owls quiet and out of the end zone preserving the first shutout of the year. We had a great night at every position.
“Hondo was the best team we have faced this year. We made some adjustments at halftime that worked in our favor. The kids listened and executed well. The kids really stepped up all week. Everyone knew this was the first district game, and the whole town knew it was ‘Hondo week’.”
The Colts will play in Crystal City tomorrow night and then at home October 24th against Pearsall.
