8th Grade Gold Fillys dominate last four games

With a goal of playing as a team, the 8th Grade Gold Fillys have worked harder each game to accomplish that task. Winning their last four games, the Gold Fillys have an overall record of 7-3 and 6-2 in district.
December 12th against Carrizo Springs, the Fillys played two aggressive halves to win 13-7. “We played really well. This team really plays ‘TOGETHER’ and it shows on the court. They are unselfish, and they are really supportive of each other and ALWAYS play as a team.” Coach Shana Beaty

The Fillys came out strong against Poteet on December 16th. Determined to win their last game before the winter break, they controlled Poteet’s aggressive style and won 16-6. “I am very proud of these girls. They outscored Poteet but their defense really won the game. Great job girls!” Coach Beaty

“I heard some great things about this game against Crystal City! The girls played their hearts out and everyone made a positive contribution. Great job girls! I am so proud of you!” said Coach Beaty who was filled in for by Coach Jim Sessions and Coach Mark Mangold. It was one of their highest scoring games of the season, with Little and Mercado each scoring 10 points in the 40-21 win.

Beating the Owls on their court on January 16th, the Gold Fillys were able to break the Owls’ defense to get to the basket. “This game was a great win for these girls. As you can see in my stats the majority of the girls on the team made positive contributions. I am so proud of this team and how much they have improved since the beginning of the season.” Coach Beaty

The Gold Fillys will have their last home game January 23rd against Pearsall and then their last game on the road January 30th in Carrizo Springs.
