7th grade Colts open season against Crystal City


7th Gold Colts

In their opening game of the season, the 7th Grade Gold Colts have beaten Crystal City. With football just finishing up, the Colts have only had a few practices together and they are showing great potential. The Colts controlled the ball and the game from the tip off leading 18-5 at the half and 35-10 at the end.
#12 Kolt Hackabiel 13 points, #32 Victor Schaefer 6, #0 Antonio Gamboa 4, #52 Diego Estrada 4, #14 Zack Serna 3, #22 Jordan Barton 2, and #24 Adrian Gutierrez 2 points. The Colts made 33% of their free throws.
“Boys competed well and we came out with the win. I am proud in the boy’s competitiveness throughout the entire game. Hackabiel had a great game offensively and Zack Serna played great defense. We played great team ball for our first win of the season,” said Coach Jacob Sanchez.
7th Maroon Colts
The 7th Grade Maroon Colts lost to Crystal City in their first basketball game. The Colts started off behind at the end of the first 0-15 but they kept working had and closed the gap some by then end of the half 9-23. Coming out of the locker room in the third, they kept pushing and moving the ball.
“Against a team like Crystal City, you have to be ready to play from the tip off and we were not. We fell behind fast and competed to get back into the game. We won the last 3 quarters but that’s not how the game is played. These young men showed a lot of heart to keep going after the slow start. Sammy Guardiola played an amazing game. We are excited about this group of young men going forward for this season.” Coach Jacob Sanchez
#2 Sammy Guardiola scored 5 points, #10 Makhi Burford 4, #24 Brandon Martinez 4, #11 Elijah Sanchez 2, #12 Quenton Sanders 2, #13 Luke Friesenhahn 2, and #00 Adrian Beltran 1points. The Colts made 75% of their free throws. Q1 0-15, Q2 9-23, Q3 9-23, Q4 20-32.
The Colts will face Hondo on November 29 at home with games starting at 5:00.
