San Antonio Express News honored Devine senior Quentin “Guido” Zapata as its 2018-2019 Boys Track Athlete of the Year. Although news broke at the DABC Sports Banquet, the All-Area Track and Field superlative became formalized in their Sunday edition on May 26.
Zapata earned the distinction due to winning the gold medal on May 11 in Austin. Guido ran 13.84 in 110m Hurdles to not only take Class 4A top ranking, but also finished second overall out of 54 total competitors at State. His 13.84 was fourth fastest time this entire past season.
