Young couple gets to say “I do” twice in one year

Loving husbands often tell their wives “I love you so much, I’d marry you again!” And one couple got to do exactly that, getting hitched twice in a year’s time! Rebecca (Saathoff) Monroe, a Devine native, and her husband Danny certainly experienced the restrictions and heartbreak of Covid-19 during one of the most exciting and important days of their lives. The military couple, stationed in California, was forced to cancel their in-person wedding in March of 2020 due to Covid restrictions.
The big wedding had been planned in Texas, but instead, they said “I-DO” in California, and family and friends attended “virtually” on Zoom. There were over 75 loved ones watching their “virtual” wedding and reception from across the country, from NYC to CA to Devine.
Her parents, Nancy and Gary Saathoff of Devine remember it well, and did everything they could to send a little love from home to make their day special.

“We sent her, what she calls, a “Wedding in a Box”! We sent a huge box of wedding decorations that we were going to use for their wedding on March 28, 2020 in Texas wedding that did not happen due to Covid-19. We included tablecloths, napkins, plate chargers, flower arrangement, their engraved wedding cake knife & server with their cake plates, and even their wedding rings that had been here for safe keeping!”
“They ordered a small wedding cake and the immediate family zoomed their reception and dinner as they celebrated in CA. The ceremony and “reception” were just beautiful and we are so grateful for modern technology that allowed us to share in the joy of their wedding,” Mrs. Saathoff added.
This past week, the sweet couple finally got to celebrate with friends and family in Medina County. Congratulations to the happy couple!!!!
