
Wilma Jane Phillips Simmons, of New Braunfels, formerly of Natalia, passed away on October 10, 2020 at the age of 99 years. She was born November 28, 1920 in Tahoka, Texas to William R. Phillips and Opal Lorene Wright Phillips.
On July 8, 1938, Wilma Jane married Andrew Lee Simmons. They were blessed with forty-five years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1984. She helped raise one daughter, Janice, and three sons, Phillip and twins Wayland and Weldon.
Jane was a founding member of her church, Natalia Baptist. She was a homemaker and volunteered at children’s school, and family activities were her delight.
Survivors include her children, Janice (Melvin) Dorrow of New Braunfels, Weldon Simmons of Pottsboro, Wayland (Jeannie) Simmons of Lytle; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Simmons (Richard) Graves of Ft. Worth; fifteen grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Wilma Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew Simmons; son, Phillip Earl Simmons; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Gail Simmons; grandson, David Simmons; granddaughter-in-law, Karen Dorrow; siblings, Martelle Phillips Brandon, Paul Phillips and Deverle Phillips.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 10:00 am at Devine Evergreen Cemetery in Devine, Texas.
