Carroll Wayne Benke, of Castroville, passed away on October 5, 2020 at the age of 70 years. He was born January 16, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to Arthur E. Benke and Ruby S. Gass Benke.
Wayne graduated from John Marshal High School in San Antonio, TX, in 1968 then enlisted in the Airborne National Guard as an X-Ray Technician. After his service, he raised a family and was a reliable provider working for Allied Systems hauling cars for 30 years.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruby Benke. Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Tschirhart (Walter) of Castroville, Texas, Shelia Darby (Dan) of Houston, Texas; son, Jacob Benke (Dawn) of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Weston Tschirhart, Cody Tschirhart, Ella Darby, Lillian Benke, Lennox Benke and Easton Benke; siblings, Ronald Benke (Cyndy), Stephen Benke (Elizabeth) and Arlene Smith (Mike) all of Castroville; partner, Suzanna Feliciano of Hondo as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne lived his life in service of others. He volunteered at Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed offering his wood working and handyman skills to help his family and community with special projects. He enjoyed hosting family barbeques, spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and activities.
Public Visitation was Saturday, October 10, 2020 starting at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville with the Funeral Service starting at 2:00 pm. Interment followed at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
