Warhorses earn 2nd in District, face Navarro in Bi-District

The Warhorses end their district season 6-2 and earn second place behind Hondo. Their overall record is 17-7 and will play their Bi-District game by May 4th. “I feel like we let one get away against Crystal City to open district and it cost us at least a share of the district championship. It’s always good to make the playoffs and even better to advance in the playoffs. Expecting bigger and better things next year,” said Coach Paul Wells.
Top of the second, down 0-4, two outs, Truett Barron and Joseph Guajardo, Dalton Kramer hit a double line drive and Barron and Guajardo scored, 2-4. Top of the third, one out, Isaiah Oropeza on second, Kramer hits another double and Oropeza scored. Barron singled to center and Kramer scored, 4-4. Top of the sixth, down 4-9, one out, Guajardo singled, Blaine Miller singled, and Oropeza doubled to bring home Guajardo and Miller. Justin Contreras reached first after a dropped 3rd strike. Kramer doubled again and Oropeza and Contreras score. Newt Crouch walked, Barron stuck out, Brady Harrell at bat and Contreras and Kramer each score on passed balls, 9-9. Hondo scored in the bottom of sixth to win the game, 9-10.

Miller 1 run, 1 hit. Crouch threw 24 strikes in 39 pitches. Gehrig Runyan threw 18 strikes in 41 pitches. Barron threw 25 strikes in 43 pitches.
The Warhorses will face Navarro in a best of 3 series. Game 1: Thursday, May 2, 7:00 in Devine, Game 2: Friday, May 3, 5:00 in Navarro, and Game 3: Friday, May 3, 30 min after.
