Warhorse XC district champs; Garza, Mata, Ortiz finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd

The Devine Warhorses dominated the field in winning the District 29-4A Cross Country championship last Wednesday at Devine Golf Course. The Horses scored 19 points to beat runner up Somerset who had 49. Six of seven runners placed in the top 10 individually.
The Horses have put in a lot of running during a trying, COVID season to advance to Regional as a team for the first time in several seasons.
“I am extremely proud of how hard the guys have worked to make advancing to Regional a possibility,” stated Head Coach Hannah Thompson. “Their dedication to their workouts throughout this entire season has paid off. Their work ethic, attitude and mentally is incredible and I am happy to announce that they will be competing at the Regional Cross Country Meet in Corpus Christi on November 10th.”
Devine has little time to prepare for their next meet as they travel to Dugan Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M Corpus Christ on Tuesday.
“There is still much to accomplish in the next week before Regional, but I am so happy for what they have accomplished this season and can’t wait to see how they perform in Corpus.”
Thompson appreciates all who have lent a helping hand during the 2020 campaign.
“Thank you to everyone that has supported us this season and who has made it out to watch these kids run this year,” finished Thompson.
