Warhorse Golf district champs; Schaefer brothers 1st and 2nd medalists

Brothers Brian and Victor Schaefer led the Devine Warhorse golf team to a district championship last Thursday and Friday at Devine Golf Course. Brian was the overall individual district champion posting an 80 on the first day and a 78 on day number two for a 158 two-day total. Victor shot a 98/95 for a 193 total to place second overall.
As a team, Devine shot a 388/363-751 to outpace runner-up Somerset who shot a 451/440-895. Devine team #2 missed out on advancing to Regional by one stroke. Devine 2 took a four-stroke lead into day two over Somerset but fell short with an 896.
Along with the Schaefers, the championship team consisted of Colin Dishman (107/98-205), Cody Trammell (103/103-206), and Jonathon Gelinas (118/92-210).
Team 2 members Wyatt LaFond and Mason Martinez qualified for Regional as individual medalists. LaFond shot a two-day 214 (108/106) while Martinez shot a 218 (111/107). Ethan Martinez (111/129-240), Cutter Howard (117/113-230), and Diego Gerlach (127/123-250) also earned bronze medals.
