Varsity Arabians play tough doubleheader

Tuesday night was a tough double header for the Arabians against Poteet and Ingram. In their first game against Poteet, the Arabians were able to make quick work of the Lady Aggies in three sets, 25-9, 25-17, and 25-8. Poteet did fight back in the second set and Devine had to come from behind to win.
“I thought we came out and played with a lot of energy in the first set. We lost in the second set and had to regain it to get back in the game. But we got it and kept it in the third set to finish. I thought we did some really good things during all three sets,” said Coach Leigh Ann McIver.

Ingram Moore was a tougher opponent and Devine struggled in the first set but came back and won the second and third. This loss puts Devine at 8-13 for the season.
“We started off really slow in the first set. We were not moving our feet on defense or transitioning very quickly. In the second and third sets we really picked up the pace and did a much better job on defense and also on blocking. We got a lot of touches on the ball which really helps out of passers. We also served really well this game, nine total aces. We just couldn’t get the momentum on our side in the third and fourth sets,” stated Coach McIver .
Kills: Oropeza 2, Hein 2, Aleyna Gerlach 3, Wofford 1, Pike 5, Pompa 3. Aces: Stevens 2, Miles 3, Howard 1, Hein 2, Wofford 1. Blocks: Hein 1, Pike 3, Pompa 3. Digs: Stevens 20, Miles 10, Oropeza 6, Howard 12, Hein 11, Gerlach 7, Harrell 21, Pike 2, Pompa 2. Assists: Hein 13.
