Facing a tough defensive Pearsall team, the Varsity Arabians fought hard and came out on top. With a final score of 65-43, the Arabians make their district record 4-0 and hold the first place in district.
Pearsall’s strong defense made the Arabians work hard in the first half but the Arabians led 25-21 at the half. Coming out determined in the third the Arabians made some defensive adjustments and slowed Pearsall down. At the end of the third, Devine extended their lead to 43-26. Working hard to keep the game at their pace, the Arabians never gave up and played hard the whole game.
“We were able to get stops on the defensive end and then we were able to work the ball inside in the second half and take advantage of our size,” stated Coach Jim Sessions.
Lily Stricker had a double/double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Chesney Friesenhahn scored 17 points with 5 rebounds, Abbie Whitaker 11 points 9 rebounds, Preslee Quisenberry 8 points 2 rebounds, Alissa Stehle 7 points 3 rebounds, Maddie Mata 5 points 5 rebounds, Sierra Pompa 2 points 9 rebounds, Clarissa Zamora 2 points 1 rebound. And Megan Runyan scored 2 points. The Arabians shot 73.7% from the free throw line.
