Two men try to steal ATM machine with tow chain

Two men attempted to steal an ATM machine from Love’s Truck Stop in Natalia this past Monday morning around 3 am. The store was open and so there were witnesses as the two suspects made the daring attempt.

“A vehicle backed up to the large truck side entrance, and two males entered the store with a large tow chain,” said Natalia Police Chief Gilbert Rodriguez. “They wrapped it around the ATM machine and attempted to drive off, but the chain came off of the truck. So they came back into the store and picked up the chain before departing.”
Surveillance video shows the thieves running in wearing jumpsuits and caps covering their heads. Part of the glass door shatters as they attempt to drive off in the truck and the chain comes off. One of the men is wearing all black with yellow stripes down his sleeves along with purple gloves. The other man is hearing a red beanie with a blue jumpsuit.
The vehicle used in the crime was located on CR 6717, abandoned. When the plates were run, it came back as a stolen vehicle out of the Houston area.
“The two men were slender built and we believe one of the suspects was African American,” Chief Rodriguez said. “A similar incident happened at a Love’s station in Seguin, and we believe these two incidents may be tied together.”
