On Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 1600 hours Hondo Police Department Patrol Officers were dispatched to Medina Regional Hospital after an adult male and adult female arrived with apparent stab wounds.
Press Release by Hondo PD–Officers learned the two victims were husband and wife and had been assaulted by their juvenile child.
After learning more details, officers responded to the Tuscany Apartments, 2208 14th Street, Hondo, Texas 78861. Patrol Officers were assisted by Hondo Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
After making numerous attempts to contact the juvenile suspect without success, a drone was used to search the residence in an attempt to resolve the situation without incident. After all efforts had been exhausted, entry was made into the apartment.
Officers located a juvenile male, deceased, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The scene was then turned over to Hondo Police Department Crime Scene Unit.
Both the husband and wife were transported to a hospital in San Antonio in critical condition. At this time no further information will be released, as this is an ongoing investigation.
Hondo PD noted that they had been in contact with the Hondo ISD Superintendent, Mrs. Rose Mary Mares, who said she was making arrangements for counsels to be available for students regarding this incident.
