Trudy Lynn Thompson Smith, of Natalia, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 67. Trudy was born August 27, 1953, in Cotulla, Texas to G.B. “Bud” and Clara Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Randy Thompson, Jeff Thompson; sister, Jan Kayser and grandson, Brayden Smith.
Trudy is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Sam Smith of Natalia; son, Eric Smith of Natalia; daughter, Holly Villanueva and husband, Jonathan of San Antonio.
Her loving grandchildren include Devon Villanueva, Braelyn Smith, Zachary Villanueva, Charlotte Villanueva and Branson Smith and an extended loving family.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Natalia where she attended church for 60+ years while teaching Sunday school for 30+ years. She was also employed by Natalia ISD for 25+ years where she also enjoyed serving the Natalia Community.
Trudy was an avid sports fan; she loved the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and San Antonio Spurs. What she truly lived for was attending Natalia Athletic Games for the last 50+ years. Other hobbies included spending time with her family, crocheting and taking numerous trips to the casinos with family and friends. A visitation was held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 3pm-6pm at Natalia Baptist Church with a Prayer Service to be recited at 6pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Devine with interment that followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Devine.
