Lytle PD officers handled 60 calls for service this past week and conducted 62 traffic stops. Of those traffic stops, 37 resulted in citations and 25 were either verbal or written warnings.
Our truck thieves hit us again. A 2008 Dodge P/U was taken from the H.E.B. Plus parking lot. It was recovered the next day by Elmendorf PD. Looks like they just “borrowed” it to get from here to there. Another big theft occurred just outside our city limits. Some contractors putting in a water line for the city are “missing” a 2006 Caterpillar forklift valued at approx. $45,000! It was taken from FM 2790 N @ CR 6710. This wasn’t a random theft, I’m sure this wasn’t their first rodeo. That was it, we didn’t have any other property crimes other than a couple related to shoplifter arrests at H.E.B. Plus.
Officers made two (2) arrests at H.E.B. Plus for shoplifters. Both happen to be class c misdemeanors so they were cited and released. The first one involved a female who tried to make off with a $24 bottle of probiotics…..on a side note each capsule contained 30 billion live probiotics. The second theft resulted in the recovery of a 12 pack of Coors Light, some vanilla ice cream and a $2 sucker. The fellow almost made it, I imagine he could already see himself sipping a beer, with a bowl of ice cream and a sucker in his mouth. It wasn’t meant to be. These aren’t kids either, the female was 60 years old and the sucker guy was 48.
We had four other arrests last week. Ofc. Pena conducted a stop on a “speeder” and arrested the driver on an outstanding felony aggravated robbery warrant out of Bexar Co. I guess the passenger didn’t want to be left out…she was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and marijuana. Ofc. Lopez conducted a field contact on a person and determined he had a probation violation warrant out of Uvalde Co. A tip came in that a wanted person was working at a construction site on McDonald St. So Lt. Dear and Cpl. Robison let me tag along, we took our suspect into custody without incident. It was hot, you could almost see the relief in his face when he knew he was headed to an air conditioned jail.
