Travis Eugene Kendall

Travis Eugene Kendall, of Castroville, passed away on July 4, 2020 at the age of 81 years. He was born January 22, 1939 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Lester Eugene Kendall and Waunda Elaine Sibley Kendall. Travis served in the Army Security Agency as a Specialist during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Southern Japan, receiving the Medal of Good Conduct.
Travis is a graduate of Delta State University, Cleveland, MS with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. While at Delta State University, he was a member of the Faculty Scholars, Commander of the Veterans’ Club, Treasurer of the Student Government Association and a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.
After college, Travis worked for Ernst and Ernst (Ernst & Young) in Tennessee for 10 years. He came to Texas and worked for First City Bancorporation of Texas, Inc in several senior management positions for over 16 years. He was Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer for banks in Bryan and Huntsville, TX. Travis has been a sole-practitioner in Public Accounting since 1993, and also a licensed Insurance Agent.
Travis married Vicki Plath at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McAllen, Texas December 1988. They were blessed with (31) thirty-one years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Kendall of Castroville; children, Karen Robbins (Darren) of Pflugerville, Beth Ansley (Tony) of Georgetown, Craig Kendall of Houston; grandchildren, Scott and Sawyer Robbins and Kyle and Blake Ansley; siblings, Louise Storey, Charles Kendall and Keith Kendall (Cedie); in-laws, Dorsey Howell, Gale Johnston, Shelly Plath and Nancy Townsend (Paul); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Elaine Kendall; sister, Joyce Howell; brother, Ray Kendall and in-laws, Gene Storey, Carolyn Kendall, Lilly Kendall, and the mother of his children, Bobbye Branscome.
Travis was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Bible Study, San Antonio, TX. Travis loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and friends, and he never met a stranger.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on July 21, 2020 at 1:45 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. National Cemeteries are limiting the number of attendeesto 25 persons and will be for immediate family and limited close friends. Social distancing must be practiced and face coveringsare required. Memorials may be made in Travis’ memory to the charity of your choice.
