Sydney Anne “Syd” Lewie Freeman

Sydney Anne “Syd” Lewie Freeman passed away on December 7, 2018 at her home in La Coste at the age of 74 years. She was born September 19, 1944 in Sherman, Texas.
On June 15, 1963, Sydney married Harry James Freeman in Raintree, Essex, England. Harry was in the Air Force and stationed there. Sydney’s family was also living in England, as her father was also in the Air Force and stationed there. She became a military wife, moving often, and taking care of their home and family while Harry was away. They were married for over fifty-one years at the time of Harry’s death on March 14, 2015.
Syd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Devine and Medina Valley VFW Post #8134 Auxiliary.
Sydney was preceded in death by her father, Albert Sidney Lewie; husband, Harry James Freeman; daughter and son-in-law, Barbra and George Nentwich; son, Brad Freeman; grandson, Richard Freeman and great-granddaughter, Jenny Jennings.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Rhonda Freeman of La Coste, Bryan and Kathy Freeman of Spring Branch; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; mother, Allee H. Lewie of Ft. Worth; brother, Charles Lewie of Detroit, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Lee Crumley and Clyde of Corpus Christi, Janice Allee Lewie of Arlington and Kathy Jo Jones of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; in-laws, Virginia Sears, Paul and Betty Freeman, David and Shelly Freeman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family had a Celebration of Life on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Devine Fellowship Hall, 308 W. Hondo Avenue, Devine, TX 78016. Sydney will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
