Students honored with scholarships and awards at DHS Band Banquet

Last week the Devine High School Warhorse band met for a banquet and to recognize a number of students for their achievement during the year. Trey Flores, president of the Band Boosters for 2020-2021, made the presentations during the program.
Scholarships awarded included an award of $600 to Laurel Spannagel, an award of $900 for Madilynne Mohr and an award of $1,000 for Pauline Calame.
The following students also received recognition awards: Outstanding Service Award to Isaias Cardenas, Liliana Mendoza, Jacob Hicks, Jonathan Morin, Austin Reyes and Dominic Davalos.
The Outstanding Freshman Award was presented to Charly Nelson. The Outstanding Sophomore Award was given to both Jordan Erxleban and Carlo Rivera. The Outstanding Junior Award went to Daisy Mendoza, Ben Garcia and Angelo Alavez. Outstanding Seniors included Caleb Martin, Gilbert Iglesias, Isabella Elias and Andrea Sanchez.
Most Improved award was presented to Brent Wilcox, Ebany Garcia and Diego Mendoza. The National School Colorguard Award was snagged by Kylie Nelson and the National School Marching Award went to Sidney Weyel.
The Director’s Award was presented to Lillian Steele and the Leonard Bernstein Musicianship Award was presented to Brian Schaefer and Pauline Calame. The Gordon Schultz Outstanding Leadership Award was awarded to Laurel Spannagel and the John Phillip Sousa Award was presented to Madilynne Mohr.
