Small town fun

Wow, last week was very slow! Officers only had to handle 43 calls for service. Traffic stops were up a bit from the prior week, with 53 total stops. Of those 53 stops, 32 resulted in citations and 21 were warnings.
Only one arrest last week. Capt. Reyes was dispatched for a report of a suspicious vehicle. He conducted a traffic stop and arrested an occupant on an outstanding warrant out of Frio Co.
Two reports of property crimes last week, hey that’s not too bad. Some person, who obviously doesn’t respect the property of others, painted on a wall and a door at Juan Garcia Pavilion at John Lott Park. The other incident involved the theft of a generator from a residence on Wisdom Rd. The homeowner decided to head over to the pawn shop to see if somebody “pawned” it. Would you believe our crooks were there pawning it? They decided to make a run for it, they had to jump a curb and drive thru the bar ditch to get away. Our resident got his generator back and our thieves were identified. We will be getting warrants for their arrest. Lazy crooks for sure, figured they would just steal something and drive across town and pawn it. It backfired on them this time.
Capt. Reyes handled Halloween operations and he did a great job, no incidents or injuries. Just the way we like it. Lots of trick or treaters out, my neighbor counted over 700 at his house. I couldn’t handle that, I would have to borrow some money or get sponsors to come up with that much candy.
From Halloween we sprang into the homecoming street dance on Main St. It was after the football game and it appears it was very successful. Officers got a little sleep then reported back for the homecoming parade. Lt. Dear handled those operations and he too, took care of business. We also had no reports of injuries or incidents. Special thanks to the assistance we received from the Atascosa Co. Sheriff’s Office and Atascosa Co. Pct. 2 Constable’s Office. You can’t ask for much more than that. Just solid, small town fun.
On to our next big event…..the Christmas Hayride. It will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is, in my opinion, the most popular event the city does.
