Slow start to year

Here is our much anticipated synopsis of the first week of 2018, sorry it isn’t that exciting. Officers generated 46 service calls and conducted 25 traffic stops. Of those 25 stops 11 of them resulted in a citation being issued and 14 of them were warnings only.
We had no arrests and no property crimes reported this past week (a fellow did report he lost his wallet). In fact most of our calls were the routine ones like suspicious person/vehicle, assist other agency, and minor disturbances. The most interesting call was a report of “donkeys in the roadway” on FM 463; it was just one of those weeks.
Successful law enforcement requires partnerships, even unlikely ones. I’m crediting the drop in activity this past week to our partnership with the “flu”. I believe that the “flu” assisted us in taking a bite out of crime. I know it cut the ranks of the LPD and I am sure it did the same for some of our crooks and thieves. I know after feeling bad and standing in line at the pharmacy I didn’t feel like arresting anybody and I’m sure the bad guys didn’t feel like stealing anything or stirring up trouble either.
