Shirley Pamela Herriott Verstuyft, of Somerset, passed away on Oct. 21, 2017 in Castroville, at the age of 80 years. She was born May 18, 1937 in England, one of three daughters born to Edward and Gladys Wraighte Herriott.
Shirley was a teacher for a total of 40 years. She taught school at St. John Berchman Catholic School, St. Joseph Catholic School and Southwest ISD. She was a farmer’s wife and mother of five children. Shirley was a member of the British Wives Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Raymond A. Verstuyft.
Survivors include her children, Michael Raymond (Sharon) Verstuyft of Atascosa, Gary Edward (Terry) Verstuyft of Llano, David Alphonse (Laura) Verstuyft of Bulverde, Richard “Rick” (Jacque) Verstuyft of Somerset and Julia (Todd) Taylor of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy (Nelson) Anderson of England and Eileen (Larry) Ludwig of San Jose, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at 10:00 am at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
