Royce Ervin Hitzfelder

Royce Ervin Hitzfelder, of La Coste, passed away on August 27, 2019 at the age of 75 years. He was born February26, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Ervin “Chico” Hitzfelder and Bernice Agnes Keller Hitzfelder.
Royce graduated from Medina Valley High School in 1962. In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Army and served during Vietnam. Royce also served on the Our Lady of Grace Cemetery Board and the annual church festival BBQ committee. Royce farmed and ranched his entire life in Medina County.
On February 22, 1976, Royce married Dee Staley at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona. They were blessed with forty-three years of marriage, four children, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dee Hitzfelder of La Coste; children and their families, Stacy and Darrell Kaye (Logan Kaye) of San Antonio, Bobbi Addington (three adult children) of Dripping Springs, Gordon and Anastasia Hitzfelder (Emelia, Florence, Harris and Hart Hitzfelder) of La Coste and Patrick and Blair Hitzfelder (Whitley and Gunner Hitzfelder) of La Coste; three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Myra and Dennis Wengenroth of La Coste and Annette and Robert Tschirhart of San Antonio.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin “Chico” and Bernice Hitzfelder.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 1, 2019 starting at 5:00 pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, September 2, 2019 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste, Texas.
Memorials may be made in Royce’s memory to St. Louis Catholic School.
