On Monday, February 17, 2020, Roy Robert Capps of Moore, TX lost his struggle with cancer in San Antonio, TX. Roy was born in Brownfield, TX to Robert “Bob” Capps and Johnnie (Bluhm) Capps.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Julie (Michael) Dumsky of Greenville, TX and son, Billy J. Capps of Bridge City, Tx. Grandchildren: Zach (Natalie) White of Caddo Mills. TX, Colton White of Terrell, TX, Stephanie Schuessler of Dallas, Becky and Zoey Dumsky of Greenville, TX. Great Grandchild, Daniel Schuessler of Dallas, TX.; Nephew Troy Capps (Jennifer) of Devine, Tx and niece Lori (Chris) Bledsoe. Also, to morn Roy’s passing is numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, one being Brenda Fernandez who cared for home until his passing.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Patcie Capps and bother Raymond Capps.
He spent part of his childhood in Seagraves, TX and later moving to Devine where he lived until being drafted into the U.S. Army. Roy was a proud Vietnam Veteran as a M14-Rifle Sharpshooter receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campion Medal. After an honorable discharge, Roy followed in his father’s footsteps and became a professional painter. Upon retirement, he loved to DJ and visit his favorite destination in Eagle Pass, watching his favorite Dallas Cowboys or enjoyed a good western show.
Pall Bearers are Gene Capps, Troy Capps, Kenny Capps, Joe (Doc)Linehan, Monty Linehan, Mike Fernandez.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 23,2019 at the Hurley funeral home in Devine at 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Devine with Chestly Gobar officiating the funeral Services.
Interment will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio TX.
