Richard Guajardo

Richard Guajardo, from Devine, Texas, joined the Lord in his heavenly resting place on June 17, 2021. He was born on August 7, 1944 in Big Foot, Texas. He was born to Felipe and Anita Guajardo and was one of 6 children.
He graduated from Devine High School in 1964. After graduation, Richard traveled the world extensively during his time in the United States Air Force. He loved his country deeply and was proud to serve it.
He married Olga Rodriguez on February 4, 1972. Soon after, they had their only child, Rachel Ann Guajardo. Richard and Olga were married for 37 wonderful years. Olga passed away in 2009.
After his military service, Richard began his second career at the United States Postal Service. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years until his retirement. Shortly after, he relocated to Houston, Texas to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.
He was a firm believer in God, and his faith was very important to him. He loved hunting, farming, spending time outdoors and with his grandchildren, playing guitar, reading, evening strolls, and taking long drives to explore small towns and new areas.
His greatest treasure and accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his second wife, Estefana Baldillo, his only daughter, Rachel A. Guajardo, three grandchildren, Brianna, Christian and Miranda Requejo, his sisters, Shirley Pompa, Arcilla Gonzales, and Elosia (Minnie) Cortinas, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Anita Guajardo, his first wife, Olga Guajardo, his sister, Adelina Calvin, his twin, Virgil Guajardo and younger brother, George Guajardo.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services will begin with a rosary at 9 am, followed by a Communion Service at 10 am, and will conclude with interment of ashes at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
