Reggie Herman Winters, Sr.

Reggie Herman Winters, Sr., age 67, passed away the morning of September 1, 2018 at his home in La Coste with his loving family at his side. Reggie was born July 21, 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of William Thurman Winters and Ethel Lee Whitt Winters.
In 1971, Reggie graduated from Smiley High School in Houston, Texas. After graduating from high school, he served his country in the Air Force for a little over four years. His education continued at Wayland Baptist University, earning an associate degree in Safety and Environmental Management and later a bachelor degree in Business Administration. He worked in automotive research as a welder before becoming a safety manager. After receiving his BBA, he worked as city manager for the cities of La Coste, Kenedy and then Aransas Pass, retiring in 2012. Reggie had a great memory and loved to read. When he would watch Jeopardy and Cash Cab, he always knew the answer to every question.
He married the love of his life, Donna Deene Salzmann, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on his birthday in 1973. Reggie and Donna were blessed with 45 years of marriage and three children.
Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Winters and his sister, Carolyn Darlene Tolleson.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Winters of La Coste; daughter, Katherine Marie Winters of San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Austin Herrera of Biloxi, Mississippi; son and daughter-in-law, Reggie H., Jr. and Ashley Winters of La Coste; grandchildren, Amber Herrera, Sydney Herrera, Bryce Atherton, Nolan Herrera, Ryan Herrera, Addison Winters and another grandson expected to arrive in November; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Narda Winters, Daniel and Rochelle Winters, all of Jerusalem, Arkansas; sister, Deborah Martinez of Bronson, Florida; in-laws, Milton Jr. and Arlene Salzman of Castroville; Maggie Grimes of Missouri City, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Military Honors and interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Reggie’s memory to American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
